Hamilton & Hodson has been providing upholstery and furniture restoration services of the highest quality from our workshop in the heart of Bristol since 1994. Over the years, we have upholstered and restored countless pieces of furniture, ranging from much-loved family pieces to treasured heirlooms and design classics. We upholster traditional and modern pieces, and undertake furniture repairs.
Hamilton & Hodson undertake complete or partial reupholstery of sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, footstools, blanket boxes, chaises, day beds, buttoned spoonbacks, head/foot boards, etc, including deep buttoning, leatherwork, fluting and woodwork repairs.
We have an extensive range of fabric sample books (including leather and faux leather) that you are welcome to browse during opening hours and we can also help you to search online for fabric retailers and manufacturers. We can also recommend reputable fabric shops in and around Bristol and fabric companies with interesting, high-quality fabric ranges (please take a look at our LINKS page). We are always happy to share our knowledge of which fabrics work best for different types of furniture. It’s one of the things we love to do!
Feather cushions can be made to order and replacement foam/polyester cushions are also available. New cushion covers can also be made, as can scatter and bolster cushions. We’re sorry but we do not make loose covers, but can recommend other companies.
We also stock a range of supplies to undertake your own upholstery, including: springs, webbing, hessian, calico, tacks, decorative nails, coir fibre, horsehair, piping cord, twine and laid cord. We can also order specific items when required including tools (staple removers, ripping chisels, curved needles, regulators, etc).
We run our own short upholstery courses from our workshop on Redland Station. Between us we have over 26 years of upholstery experience to share with you. Immersed in the inspiring surroundings of our quirky workshop, you can learn to restore your own small pieces of furniture! All abilities are welcome and each workshop has no more than four students.
