Hamilton and Hodson run short upholstery courses from our workshop on Redland Station in Bristol. The courses are taught by the owners, Nicky Hamilton and Erica Fredricksson. We have between us over 25 years of experience. There are no more than four students on each course, so you will get plenty of attention.
We offer one and two day courses. On the one day course, we will support students in upholstering a simple piece of furniture. If you’re new to upholstery, then a footstool, a drop-in seat for a dining chair or a simple headboard is advisable. You can also make a scatter cushion or box cushion. Making cushions using a sewing machine isn’t technically upholstery but is a useful technique to learn as part of an upholsterer’s toolkit of skills. If you have some experience or plan to do a more complicated piece (like a small upholstered chair or ottoman), the two day course would be advisable.
The course dates for 2019 are:
13th – 14th September (click here to book on Eventbrite)
19th October (click here to book directly through Hamilton & Hodson)
